Revels RiverSing 2011
Patrick Swanson, stage director; George Emlen, music director and host
On Sunday, September 18th thousands of voices joined in song - including special musical guests, nationally acclaimed singers and recording artists The Nields - as Revels celebrated the approaching Equinox along the banks of the Charles with music, poetry and communal singing at the 8th annual Revels RiverSing.
Revels music director George Emlen led this FREE outdoor celebration. Sax great Stan Strickland closed the evening with an improvisational sunset serenade from an illuminated Sun/Moon boat floating along the river, providing a magical ending to summer and a striking herald of fall.
Before the sing there was family fun -- including stilt walkers & hula hoops provided by Vegetable Circus, two New Orleans-style "honk" bands and a puppet-filled parade to the river.
