Planned Giving
There are many ways that you can help Revels and accomplish your philanthropic and financial goals while providing for your loved ones. You may consider any of the following:
Make a bequest. Instruct your attorney to include a charitable bequest for Revels in your will or living trust. This is one of the simplest ways for you to leave a legacy for future generations. Your gift can be made for a specific dollar amount, a specific property, a percentage of your estate, or for what remains after your loved ones have been taken care of.
Standard bequest language in the will is: "I, (name), of (city, state, ZIP) give, devise and bequeath to Revels, Inc. (written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property) for its unrestricted use and purpose."
An unrestricted bequest is a gift for Revels general purposes to be used at the discretion of the governing board. A gift like this, without conditions attached, is frequently the most useful, as it allows us to determine the wisest and most pressing need for the funds at the time of the receipt.
If you wish to specify that the funds be used for a special purpose or project, it is best to consult with us when you make your will to be certain your intent can be carried out.
Donate retirement funds. Due to potential taxation concerns that can significantly diminish the value of your retirement account, you may find it beneficial to name Revels as the beneficiary recipient of your 401(K), 403(b), Keogh, IRA, or other qualified pension plan.
Contribute life insurance policy proceeds. Perhaps you find that a life insurance policy once necessary for your family’s security is no longer needed because your children are now independent and other assets are providing adequate income and resources for their future. A simple way to make a gift is to contribute the face value of the policy to Revels or name Revels as the future beneficiary of the policy. An outright gift of your insurance policy will allow you to receive a charitable income tax deduction, while naming Revels as your beneficiary will help you avoid federal gift and estate taxes.
These are just some examples of how you may include Revels in your gift-planning efforts. Gifts of this nature should be carefully considered in relation to your financial and estate plans and goals. We therefore recommend that you consult an attorney, financial advisor, or estate-planning expert in the preparation of your will and to supervise its execution so as to comply with the requirements of the state in which you reside.
